Plaiting a dark red love-knot into her long black hair, till her face was like a light.

In my dreams I am always a shadow, surrounded by a circle of lamplight. There is no reality beyond its golden glow. If I venture out, I am swallowed by the darkness. Once, long ago, I escaped.
